May 19, 1948 – August 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Weigel, born May 19, 1948, who left us on August 17, 2025.
Mary Ann was the fourth child and second eldest daughter born to Charles and Jean Kohut of Didsbury, AB.
Mary Ann is survived by her three daughters, Barbara (Tony) Randell, Lori (Greg) Enzie, and Patti Linderman (Darcy Dux); as well as her cherished grandchildren, Cody (Katherine), Chantelle (Kevin), Jesse (Shaeline), Crystal (Ashton), and Ryder. Mary Ann was also blessed with 3 great-grandchildren Jaxon, Wesley, and Theo, who brought her endless joy.
Mary Ann’s piece of heaven was east of Didsbury, where she and her beloved Jack raised their family. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and hard work—raising three beautiful daughters, Barb, Lori, and Patti, along with two handsome nephews, Jimmy and Ken.
Mary Ann had a deep love for her animals, whether it was her colorful peacocks, her 500 chickens, or the pride of her farm—the shiny white Charolais cattle she spent hours with. Mary Ann worked tirelessly on the farm she loved, always taking pride in her yard, garden, flowerbeds, and the sparkling strands of Christmas lights she strung each Christmas season making the house look like it belonged in the movies each holiday season. On her “off days,” she delivered rural mail for Canada Post, a role she carried with the same dedication she brought to everything in her life.
In 2001, when the farm became too much to manage, Mary Ann moved to her beautiful home on Shannon Drive in Olds, AB. There she worked at the senior’s lodge, where she touched many lives with her kindness and compassion. More than anything, she cherished her role as “Gramma,” teaching her grandchildren life lessons both big and small—from shooting and riding their first two-wheeler bikes to making magic goo and baking her famous cookies.
Mary Ann’s heart was truly one of a kind—beautiful, courageous, and tenacious. She lived life to the fullest, with her family always at the center. Her kitchen was a place of love and warmth, with meals that rivaled Gordon Ramsay’s finest, featuring farm-fresh vegetables, and homegrown beef, pork, and chicken. The fine smells of Mom’s cooking will linger in our memories forever.
Mary Ann also had a passion for BINGO—never missing a number and often keeping an eye not only on her own cards, but on everyone else’s cards too, gently reminding them when they missed a number.
Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her welcoming smile, warm heart, and countless memories will live on in all of us.
If desired, memorial tribute may be directly made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
