1933 – 2025
Marjorie May Rivers (Dirks), age 92, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Timberstone Mews in Red Deer after a year long struggle with various health issues.
Marjorie was born on July 21, 1933 at Duperow/Lydden, Sask, the eldest of 4 children to Clarence and Isabella Dirks. She remained there helping on the farm with the milking, threshing, housecleaning and watching out for her 3 younger brothers. She also did housecleaning and babysitting for local families until marrying William Rivers on June 27, 1952.
Marjorie and Bill headed for Alberta where the oilfield was booming. They moved from rig to rig where Bill was hauling water until 1965 when they bought the Sangro school quarter at Eagle Hill and made a permanent home with their four children.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Isabella Dirks, her husband William of 58 years, 2 brothers Gary and Terrence.
She is survived by her brother Harold; children Wayne, Brian (Barbara), Brenda (Blair) and Leanne; her grandchildren Laure, April (Emery), Dean (Melissa), Janelle (Steven), Billy (Vanessa), Damian; and her great grandchildren Declan, Shelby, Kenzie, Landyn, Chance, Jack & Lizzy.
Interment was held on Friday, August 8 at Eagle Hill Cemetery.
