1929 – 2025

Jeanne Bernice Jensen passed through the mortal veil Monday August 4, 2025, to be reunited with her husband, Wayne Russell Jensen and daughter, Darlene Patricia Scarff (nee Jensen). Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on October 19, 1929, to Marion Daniels or Daignault, Jeanne was subsequently adopted by Andrew and Fannie Chalmers and moved to LaSalle, Colorado At 14, she relocated to Weberville, near Peace River, where while working in the Peace River Post Office and local restaurant, she met her future husband, Wayne Jensen. They married on July 2, 1951, in Calgary and honeymooned at the Calgary Stampede, eventually moving to the Ranch on the Fallen Timber and raising three children: Stanley, Blaine, and Darlene.

After Wayne’s passing in 1993, Jeanne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, where Elder Thomas S. Monson affectionately called her his “Little Canadian.” Returning home, Jeanne devoted herself to volunteering for nearly 30 years—visiting, reading, singing, playing cards, and offering comfort to countless “friends” in care homes and hospitals. She was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Medal for Service, though she always insisted, “I got more back than I ever gave!”

Jeanne was a blessing to her family—Stanley (Deana), Blaine (Cheryl), Darlene (deceased) (Walt Scarff), ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren—as well as to the many who considered her a mother or grandmother. A celebration of her life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Olds, Alberta, on August 9, 2025, at 1 PM. See the Legacy Funeral Home for a web like to view the service.
