1936 – 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of George Robert Herman announce his passing surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 89 years.
George was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on February 19, 1936, to Mayme and Perry Herman. He went to College in Davenport, Iowa where he attended Palmer Chiropractic College. George started his practice in Lloydminster, where he met and married, Rosemarie Lamb on October 7,1961. They moved to Innisfail, Alberta in 1962 and had three children, Shara Dee, Tara Lee and Geoffrey Troy. He continued to practice in Innisfail until his retirement in June 2010, marking that occasion with fifty years of service.
George had a caring way of treating his patients which has had a long-lasting impression even to this day. A man of many interests, he found delight in reading books of all genres, the quiet peace of fishing, and spending time with family and friends throughout his life. He also had a remarkable gift for painting. Over the years, he created countless works of art that he lovingly shared with family and friends. Each painting became a piece of his heart and creativity, now cherished in homes as lasting reminders of talent and love. George was equally known for his incredible gardening skills. Season after season he grew bountiful gardens filled with tomatoes, cucumbers, raspberries, apple trees and much more. His garden was not only a place of solitude for him but also a source of joy and pride that he delighted in sharing with others. He also played guitar, wrote songs, he even made a record seventy some years ago. In the early 1970s,
George was a skilled small aircraft pilot flying out of the Innisfail Airport, he enjoyed this for about 10 years. He was an excellent winemaker, along with his brother, Pete they have vinted thousands of bottles of wine over the years. George was an avid storyteller. His jokes and long involved stories entertained many. He was also willing to give sage advice to anyone seeking it.
George was very involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives and was a great father and grandpa right to the end.
He and Rose travelled to many places in their lifetime, Hawaii multiple times, Mexico, Vegas and had the joy of seeing Elvis live, also a bus tour to Graceland and a memorable trip to Europe with his brother, Derrill and wife, Liia. That trip took them to France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium and ended with a week in the Netherlands. Family trips to Disneyland and once to watch grandkids, Danielle and April dance. They also camped a lot with friends, and he was always the life of the party.
George leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness that will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his loving children, Shara (Larry) Smith, Tara (Don) Green and Geoff (Krista Clelland) Herman.
