1948 - 2025
We would like to announce the passing of Ronnie Bast. Ronald David Bast passed away on April 3, 2025 in Brooks Alberta, just a few days short of his 77th birthday. Ronnie was born on April 7, 1948 in Carstairs Alberta to William and Myrtle (Buschert) Bast. The Family moved from Carstairs in 1949 to Duchess, where they owned and operated the Duchess Cafe for many years. After William passed away, Myrtle ran the cafe with her children. Ronnie would hunt around Duchess and would bring his mom game to cook.
In 1972 Ronnie received a Certificate of Proficiency to be an Auto Body Mechanic and worked at Mike's body shop in Brooks, Alberta. In 1989 he completed a course at SAIT for Chief E.Z. Liner Body and Frame Alignment. He was also an industrial painter and trucker. He Worked for Sandy Bartman for many years.
Ronnie enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He liked to joke around and had great stories to tell, he also enjoyed working on vehicles.
Survived by his nephews Delmore Bast and his son Cohen Bast. Ricky Bast, and his wife Mickaele Bast, and many other relatives in the Bast, Watts and Buchert families. Also his close friends Sandy Bartman and Rob Block.
He was predeceased by his brother Delmore William Bast in 1996, his sister Mary Terry in 2023, his nephew Wendell Bast, and his sister in law Judy Bast (Friesen) both in 2024.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 26, 2025 2:00 PM, Thoms Funeral Home and Reception Centre in Duchess Alberta.
