EDMONTON — After a sluggish start to its regular-season opener, Edmonton eventually found its way by orchestrating a huge comeback to win.

REGINA — Drew Sim earned a shutout stopping all 22 shots he faced as the Regina Pats topped the Prince Albert Raiders 3-0 on Wednesday. Easton Armstrong opened the scoring in the first period for Regina (5-4-0).

MONTREAL — Following a winless pre-season that came with its share of struggles, the Montreal Canadiens found the win column in their regular-season opener.

SARNIA, Ont. — Angus MacDonell netted the game winner early in the third period as the Sarnia Sting edged the Owen Sound Attack 3-2 on Wednesday. Nolan Burke opened the scoring for Sarnia (4-1-0) after being down 1-0 courtesy of a Deni Goure goal.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Brad Lambert to a three-year entry-level contract. The team announced Wednesday that Lambert's deal carries an average annual value of US$1.2 million at the NHL level.
