MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – The county's agricultural service board (ASB) has approved $23,000 in grants for community groups.
The funds were authorized by way of motion at the board’s recent regularly scheduled meeting, held by teleconference.
The Ag for Life group received $12,500 for its rural safety unit, a mobile classroom that is equipped with interactive stations, presentations and dedicated specialized staff.
In a briefing note to the board, administration said the funds will be used to “provide educational mobile programming in the municipal district of Mountain View County at schools, rural communities and/or events. The funds will be utilized to cover transportation, materials, maintenance and staffing costs.”
Olds Regional Exhibition received $10,000 for two of its rural youth development programs: Summer Synergy scheduled for July 6-10 and for Mountain View Special Riding.
The Carstairs and District 4-H Show and Sale was granted $500 for use in support of the 77th annual show.
The ASB is made up of county councillors and appointed members of the public.
