The Memorial Cup is returning to Alberta this month after 42 years and Innisfail is part of the celebration.

Five high school students are national champions after winning the gold medal in division two at the U-17 Volleyball Canada National Championships.

The Community Learning Campus's Fit 4 Fort McMurray fundraiser netted $915 for the Canadian Red Cross on May 12.

Thirty-six basketball teams from across the province, including one from Olds, were in town over the weekend for a tournament hosted by the Edmonton-based Swoosh Canada Basketball Club.

The Razzle Dazzle Vaulting Club is based in Sundre, currently has about 10 vaulters of all skill levels and is always looking for new members. As the club trains and practises all year, there is never a bad time to join.

Innisfail High School students have hit the field for the soccer season. “It's a junior, senior high, co-ed soccer team. We've got a good mix of students from grades 9 to 12 this year,” said Narsh Ramrattan, head coach.

It's play ball time for the Innisfail Indians. “We've been out on the diamond. This will be our second week. We also did a week of training inside at the Collicutt Centre in Red Deer,” said Steven Bouteiller, head coach of the Indians.

Thirty-two teams from across the province, including three from Saskatchewan filled up the Ralph Klein Centre April 15-17 for a tournament hosted by the Edmonton-based Swoosh Canada Basketball Club.

Olds High School student Tatum Olsen is a lot of things: guitarist, singer, and painter. But she's no athlete. "I'm an artsy person," Olsen says. "I create anything I can.

Olds Koinonia Christian School's senior high school badminton team sent eight players to the provincial championship this past weekend in Edmonton. It's the largest cohort in team history.
