Olds Grizzlys head coach Joe Murphy expects to know more about what his roster will look like after a home-and-home exhibition series against the Calgary Canucks this Friday and Saturday, but already, he thinks his team has improved from last year.

If his first season is any indication of things to come, a young local cowboy’s rodeo career is shaping up to be particularly bright.

A local steer wrestler who came out on top during the recent rodeo in Didsbury is also the Foothills Cowboys Association’s (FCA) season leader.

DIDSBURY - About 25 riders participated in the Didsbury Ag Society's gymkhana event on Aug. 18 at the ag society grounds. The event was the second to last in the monthly series, which goes from May until September.

Lonny Olson has been rodeoing for nearly 50 years. The former Canadian professional trick rider still competes in calf roping, ribbon roping and breakaway roping. Olson was born and raised in Belle Fourche, S.D.

From a health standpoint, rodeo has been a challenge for Elaine Watt. She's been in the sport for decades and has suffered her share of injuries. "I got run over by my daughter's goat-tying horse.

The Olds College Broncos women’s basketball team has dipped into the local talent pool for its newest recruit, with head coach Avery Harrison tapping into his past to build in the present.
