Olds figure skater Sora Won was presented with a gold pin and a certificate commemorating her achievements in dance from Skate Canada this past Wednesday. Coach Patsy Ann Jones of the Olds Figure Skating Club presented the award.
“The club would like to congratulate her for her years of hard work, and wish her good luck in her new adventures,” said Jones. “We're going to miss her.”
The 17-year-old has had a busy year, putting roughly six hours a week into practising her dances, while making preparations for her upcoming graduation at Olds High School.
“Grad is coming up. It's a little nerve-wracking. When I was skating it was kind of hard (to juggle everything), but now that it's over, it's a little better.
Won anticipates going to the U of A this fall to begin a bachelor of arts with a major in marketing.
“I think I might keep skating if it's available there,” said Won. “I might teach little kids, but I haven't really had time to think much about it.”
