The vacant school resource officer position for the Innisfail RCMP has been filled. Cst. Chris Lavery started working as a liaison between the RCMP and local schools in mid-September. “I really like it,” he said.

The Innisfail Restorative Justice Society received an award celebrating 10 years of its youth justice committee arm during a recent conference.

Animal Control Bylaw Council enacted a comprehensive animal control bylaw after no concerns emerged at a public open house held Nov. 26.

Council approved a subdivision application that will kick off Phase 1 of the Palisades development in Penhold.

Residents will have the chance to comment on the 2013 budget Dec. 10 at the regularly scheduled town council meeting. Council members have the option of deferring a decision on the budget or moving to approve it later in the evening.

The town's reputation as a place for parents with young children and for seniors got a boost last week as the town released the findings of the 2012 census. Coming in just under its $10,000 budget, the population survey revealed 18.

The Innisfail Aquatic Centre will be closed Dec. 3 -27 for routine maintenance. “It gives us an opportunity to make some improvements in the pool,” said Director of Community and Protective Services Terry Welsh.

The pictures painted by statistics gathered during Snapshot Day at the Innisfail and Penhold libraries last month were accurate according to the library managers.
