DIDSBURY - The annual Didsbury Elks parade saw hundreds residents and visitors of all ages line the town's streets on Saturday, with organizers calling the event a great success.
“Yes we were pretty happy, especially with the weather,” Margo Ward, one of the Aug. 16 parade organizers. “We would like to always see more entries but we were happy with the ones we had.”
The commercial entry first place went to The Farm Table, second place to Didsbury Veterinary Clinic, and third place to Nutrient Ag Solutions.
The non-commercial entry first place went to Tops, second to Didsbury Municipal Library, and third to Didsbury United Church.
The antique open first place went to Donna Geekie (Cochrane), second to Willie Petersen (Carstairs), and third to Jill Tuggle (Calgary).
Horse & Rider first place went to Leah & Sweet Pee (Crossfield Rodeo Queen).
Horse & Carriage/Harness Horse first place went to Daniel and Anna Schwizer and daughter Daniella (wooden carriage drawn), and second place went to Ron Murphy of Olds (canopied carriage drawn).
This year’s parade featured dignitaries such as MLA Tara Sawyer, Town of Didsbury Mayor Rhonda Hunter, Mountain View County councillors Dwayne Fulton and Alan Miller, Elks officials, and members of the Didsbury Fire Department.
