Didsbury's Kinsley hits well in world series

A Didsbury resident, Kinsley currently plays with the McCook Community College softball team in McCook, Nebraska

DIDSBURY – Payton Kinsley hit very well during the recent National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 World Series in Yuma, Arizona.

A Didsbury resident, Kinsley plays with the McCook Community College softball team in McCook, Nebraska, where she has been since August 2024.

Her team made it all the way to the recent NJCAA Juco D1 College World Series.

A catcher, Kinsley finished the tournament with a very strong batting average of .370. She didn’t strike out once during the tournament.

When playing the Trinity Valley team, ESPN+ named her Player of the Game for scoring three runs. She went three for three with two doubles and a single. 

The McCook Community College softball team finished the tournament with a 3-2 record. They defeated McLennan Community College, Trinity Valley and Butler Community College, and dropped matches against Crowder Community College and Wallace State Community College.

The team's run in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 World Series came to an end with a 10-2 loss in five innings to Wallace State Community College.

In 2023, Kinsley made it to the Little League World Series in Delaware as a member of Team Canada. She has played with the Southern Alberta Revolution Team based in Crossfield.
