DIDSBURY -  The Town of Didsbury's council has approved up to $35,000 towards the recruitment of a new chief administrative officer for the municipality.

The CAO is the top administrative position in the municipality, overseeing all other staff members.

Former CAO Ethan Gorner resigned his position in February, and chief financial officer Amanda Riley is the current acting CAO.

On April 14, the council approved a CAO recruitment service for the purpose of hiring a new CAO for the town.

“The cost of the recruitment firm, plus travel expenses of the recruiter and advertising costs is expected to be $35,000,” Riley said in a briefing note to council.

“This budget does not include council’s related meetings or interviewing of prospective candidates.”

The council carried a motion approving up to $35,000 for the recruitment project, with the funds to come from the town’s strategic initiatives and contingency reserve.
