DIDSBURY – Police are thanking a tipster for information that lead to a drug bust outside Didsbury last week.

Police raided a property in the Bergthal area of Mountain View County on April 23 after receiving a tip from a member of the public.

Officers seized approximately 80 bags of psilocybin – also known as magic mushrooms – in various stages of growth, as well as drug production paraphernalia, said Didsbury RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.

A 27 year-old male and a 29 year-old male, both from Calgary, are facing drug offences. They have been released from custody and ordered to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Aug. 17.

“The Didsbury RCMP would like to thank the tipster for the anonymous information that led to the success of this criminal investigation,” said Staff Sgt. Chad Fournier.

The RCMP’s Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, RCMP Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response Team, Didsbury Fire Department, and Didsbury Emergency Medical Services assisted Didsbury RCMP during the operation, he said.

Anyone with information about this or any other suspicious activity in the district is asked to contact the Didsbury RCMP, Crime Stoppers or online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
