Parks Canada says 358 of a total of 1,113 structures within the Jasper townsite have been destroyed by fire

Senior lost overnight in Yoho in sweltering conditions is expected to make a full recovery.

“The fire is estimated as six hectares and has seen no fire growth since yesterday.”

“A fire crew is currently actioning this fire,” states Parks Canada in a social media post.

“Typically these events occur after some sort of traumatic incidents, whether it’s an attack by another bear or another animal or some sort of severe incident that causes the cubs to separate.”

“It also went past a friend’s tent and it actually left what looked like, from the movie The Wolverine, big scratch marks in the tent fly."

“Visitation to the park has grown over 31 per cent in the last decade and last year was the busiest year on record and it's expected to continually rise."

“This proposal that we’ve received fits within those parameters that were outlined in the OCA guidelines."
