HALIFAX — An out-of-control wildfire in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley has prompted the evacuation of some residents in the West Dalhousie area.

The County of Annapolis issued a mandatory evacuation order this morning just after 10 a.m., but it was unclear how many homes and businesses have been affected.

The order applies to a number of civic addresses on West Dalhousie Road.

The county issued an emergency alert saying those staying in the area could suffer “injury or loss of life,” and evacuees were asked to check in at the Bridgetown fire hall.

Across the province, 130 wildfires have broken out this season amid drought-like conditions, with six of the nine current fires reported since Wednesday.

A wildfire on the western outskirts of Halifax that had prompted evacuations was reported as being held late Wednesday.
