SUNDRE – The new mini-roundabouts along the Highway 27-Main Avenue corridor are taking shape as construction crews make the most of ideal working conditions.
As per last week's update, the progress so far includes:
• 5th Street: Loam has been placed to prepare for final landscaping.
• 4th Street: Sidewalks and the east median island have been formed; the west median island is currently being formed.
• 3rd Street: Road base installation is complete.
• 2nd Street: Coloured concrete has been poured for the mini-roundabout, pedestrian walkways, and median islands.
• 1st Street: Concrete and asphalt have been removed, and a catch basin has been relocated.
• Centre Street: Sidewalks have been poured on the northeast side.
• Highways 27 and 760: Signal installations completed for eastbound Highway 27 and Highway 760. Westbound installation is underway.
Next on the docket:
• Highways 27 and 760: Landscaping will be completed soon.
• Centre Street: Curb forming and pouring from MountainView Trading Post to the bridge continues this week.
• 1st Street: Road and sidewalk grading is set for next week, with concrete pours planned over the next 2–3 weeks.
• 2nd Street: The first lift of asphalt will be placed this weekend, and coloured concrete work will continue to take place over the next week. Grading and placing loam will also take place next week, followed by the installation of signs the following week.
• 3rd Street: Sidewalks, median island, mini-roundabout, and the first asphalt lift will be poured within the next two weeks.
• 4th Street: Concrete will be poured for curbs, median island, and mini-roundabout over the next week. The first asphalt lift be placed the following week.
And the installation of streetlights at 2nd Street, 4th Street (south), as well as 3rd Street (north) will be complete by the end of the week; however, they will not be powered up yet.
Additionally, new traffic patterns will be in place starting May 21, weather permitting. Specifically, crews will start work on the north side of Highway 27 at 1st, 2nd, and 4th Streets, and on the south side of 3rd Street.
As well, asphalt milling, paving, and line painting from 11th Street NE to the bridge will occur at night between May 21 – 31. Lane restrictions will be in effect and motorists are asked to slow down and obey all posted signage as well as the new traffic pattern signs.
