Hot weather: High temperature record broken in Sundre area Thursday

From Athabasca in the north, through the Calgary region and down to Milk River in the south, records dating back as many as 91 years ago shattered

SUNDRE – The Sundre area was one of 20 places in Alberta to break high temperature records on Thursday.

In a weather summary issued Friday, Environment and Climate Change Canada noted the Sundre area recorded a new, record-high temperature for May 29.

The temperature hit 30.3 degrees Celsius (C) Sunday at the Sundre Airport. The previous record for the day of 28.5 C was set in 1995.

Weather records for the area have been kept since 1993.

The following other Alberta areas set a daily maximum temperature record (listed in degrees Celcius) on Thursday, May 29:
