Police looking for suspect in Hamilton shooting that killed one person

HAMILTON — Police in Hamilton, Ont., are searching for a suspect in connection with a shooting that killed one person in the downtown core Friday afternoon.

HAMILTON — Police in Hamilton, Ont., are searching for a suspect in connection with a shooting that killed one person in the downtown core Friday afternoon.

Police say a woman was declared dead at the scene, and a man suffered injuries from a gunshot wound and had to be taken to the hospital, but with no risk to his life.

The suspect managed to escape, and officers are trying to locate him.

The Emergency Response team are actively clearing Jackson Square as part of the investigation.

Police say road closures and traffic diversions are in place around King Street, James Street, and MacNab Street.

Investigators are asking those who were in the area between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Friday and may have seen the incident to contact them.
