OLDS — Walkways in Olds Cemetery that had been gravel are now upgraded to concrete, thanks to a grant the Olds Lions Club received from municipally-owned Mountain View Power.
“This improvement enhances accessibility for all visitors, including those with mobility challenges, while also providing a cleaner, more durable, and low-maintenance surface,” community facilitator/economic development officer Gary Gaudette said in an email to the Albertan.
The walkways, installed in spring, surround the columbarium in the cemetery and lead to the Lions of Southern Alberta Memorial Forest area where trees have been planted in memory of Lions members throughout southern Alberta and elsewhere that have passed away.
Three pathways have been created. Two extend from the roadway to the centre of the columbarium area. The third one runs from the roadway to the gazebo.
