OLDS — The Cornerstone area of Olds is expected to undergo a public art shake-up.
The Public Art Collective of Olds (PACO) recently put out a call for people to submit large-scale public art that can be placed in the Cornerstone Art Commons.
The call was open to artists of all ages and skill levels.
Those interested were encouraged to submit up to five original pieces of photography, painting, digital art, or mixed media that reflect the following theme: Celebrating Olds – unity, roots, and growth.
By “unity,” the collective means moments, traditions, and diversity that bring community residents together.
“Roots” refers to the town’s history, heritage, “and the land that grounds us,” a town news release says.
“Growth” refers to “resilience, innovation, and hope for the future,” the release adds.
The deadline for submissions was July 23.
Chosen pieces will appear on 16 vertical panels in the Cornerstone Art Commons located at the intersection of 46 Street and 65 Avenue near the Shell station.
“Submitters were
our work online and help us showcase the people, stories, and creativity of Olds,” the news release says.
