MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Three Mountain View County incumbent councillors have filed nomination papers for the October 2025 municipal election.
As of last week, Division 1 councillor and deputy reeve Dwayne Fulton, Division 3 councillor Alan Miller, and Division 4 councillor Tiffany Nixon had filed the papers required to run in the 2025 election.
Incumbent councillor and reeve Angela Aalbers, and councillors Greg Harris and Jennifer Lutz have told the Albertan they plan to see re-election in October.
Division 6 councillor Peggy Johnson told the Albertan she has yet to decide whether to seek another term.
Nominations for the general election opened on January 1 and close on Sept. 22. Each nomination application must include the signatures of five eligible Mountain View County electors.
Meanwhile, the county has set three advance poll dates for the October election. Those advance polls will be held on Oct. 6, 8 and 11.
“We have locations booked but won’t know which divisions are going to have elections until Sept. 22,” Chris Atchison, the county's director of legislative service, told the Albertan.
Elections would not be held in divisions where candidates are acclaimed.
To run in the October election, an eligible candidate must be at least 18 years old, be a Canadian citizen, must have been a resident of the local jurisdiction and the specific division within Mountain View County for six consecutive months immediately preceding nomination day, and must not be otherwise ineligible or disqualified.
The county has created an election information section on its website, which includes interested candidate information packages.
Didsbury's advance polls will be held on October 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Didsbury Memorial Complex (1702 - 21 Ave) and on October 9 from noon to 7 p.m., also at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.
