Inaugural Water Valley festival celebrates arts and music

Musicians and artists participated on June 20-22 in first-ever Water Valley Arts & Music Festival

WATER VALLEY – Despite rainy conditions, dozens of musicians and other artists took part in the first-ever Water Valley Arts & Music Festival (WVAMF) on June 20-22.

“Building on the 25-year legacy of the Celtic Festival, WVAMF transforms into an expanded celebration of music, arts, and culture, bringing together a diverse range of artists, performers, and attendees for an unforgettable experience,” organizers said.

The WVAMF took place at the several venues in Water Valley, and at the Roots & Rhythm Stage at Fallentimber Meadery.

“WVAMF is a unique festival that blends local heritage with fresh, new sounds and experiences. The festival is fully organized and operated by the Water Valley Community Association, a non-profit organization run entirely by dedicated volunteers passionate about enriching the community.”

Musicians scheduled to perform in Water Valley included the Fiddle Friends, Douglas Briggs, Celtic Routes, Sweet Colleens, Get Reel, Haymakers, Campbell and Corner, Coastal Craic and Magnolia Buckskin.

Musical acts scheduled to perform at Fallentimber Meadery included The Great Grey, Ginger Beef, Unlawful Assembly, The Whiskey Stagger, and Over the Moon.

Festival director Arya Ahmadi told the Albertan, "Everyone enjoyed themselves and the rain didn't stop us. If this much rain doesn't stop us, I don't know what could."

About 60 volunteers were involved in this year's festival, he said, noting planning is already underway for next year's festival.
