OLDS — Every member of the École Olds High School (ÉOHS) track and field team has qualified for zones, which will be held May 21 in Calgary.

They qualified during the senior high school divisional meet, held May 14 in Sundre.

The junior high divisional meet will be held May 22, also in Sundre.

“Olds unfortunately does not have a track anywhere in town to accommodate hosting a track meet. Therefore, our division hosts all of our meets in Sundre typically,” ÉOHS athletic director Jeff Clattenburg said in an email.

He described this year’s edition of the Spartans track and field team as “small but mighty.” It features 15 seniors and nine juniors.

Most of the team consists of throwers, coached by world class thrower Rachel Andres of Olds.

Also on the team are a few distance runners “who are looking at potential strong seasons with their eyes set on a provincial medal,” Clattenburg wrote.
