INNISFAIL – Major improvement work will soon begin on nearly four kilometres of back lanes on the south side of Innisfail.
During a recent Agenda & Priorities meeting, Steven Kennedy, director of operations for the Town of Innisfail, presented a report on the planned work this year for the Lane Rehabilitation Program (LRP).
Kennedy told council the purpose of the program, now in its third year, is to rehabilitate local gravel lanes to achieve proper width, improve sight lines and remove vegetative overgrowth.
He said about 3.7 kilometres of back lanes will be completed this year to add to the 12.3 kilometres that has been completed during the past two years.
Kennedy told the Albertan there is no extra cost to the town or taxpayers as the work is being done with Town of Innisfail labour and equipment.
Council was told the schedule for this year LRP project is to start in June and complete the work by the end of July.
Kennedy said notifications to impacted residents were to be sent in late April.
