DIDSBURY - Brendan Fifield, the winner of the Town of Didsbury’s 2025 High School Scholarship, plans to attended Mount Royal University to pursue a degree in business administration.
Fifield was presented with the $2,000 scholarship during a recent, regularly-scheduled council meeting.
The yearly scholarship is presented to a Grade 12 student who demonstrates a good attitude, who is involved in extra-curricular activities, shows enthusiasm and initiative, has demonstrated involvement in volunteer community activities and exhibits leadership qualities.
Mayor Rhonda Hunter said Fifield was awarded the scholarship for his “commitment to his education, community service, and leadership.”
Fifield is actively connected to the community, being a hockey referee. He's also involved in his church through the food hamper program and the Christmas nativities.
He is also an athlete, playing hockey and badminton and competing in track and field, and cross-country; he has even travelled internationally for a world roller hockey tournament, bringing home two gold medals.
He is also a musician, playing trumpet in the school band.
“You give us the confidence that our world is in good hands with the youth of today,” said mayor Hunter. “I encourage you to continue to find ways to continue doing your acts of gratitude, to stay involved and connected with your community.”
