Cremona council sets residential tax rate of 8.66

CREMONA – Council has passed the 2024 tax rate bylaw, which calls for a residential mill rate of 8.66 and a commercial rate of 13.65, says chief administrative officer Karen O'Connor.

The move came by way of motion at a special council meeting on May 28.

The residential vacant rate is 12.8, the residential special rate is 3.0, the farmland rate is 8.68, the commercial vacant rate is 13.65, the linear rate is 13.65 and the designated industrial rate is 0.074.

The 2024 residential assessment is $41,914,200 and the commercial assessment is $5,639,800, with the total assessment of $62,729,000.

The 2024 Mountain View Seniors Housing Authority requisition is $19,957, the 2024 Alberta School Foundation Fund requisition for residential is $111,326 and for non-residential $26,962, and the 2024 Alberta Policing requisition is $19,564.

Council also passed the 2024 master rates and fees bylaw, including an updated administration fee of $35 per hour, custom labour rate of $50 per hour, equipment rate of $125 per hour, bulk water rate of $6 per cubic metre, residential garbage $25 per month, water metered per cubic metre rates of $3.50 after 10 metres of water used, and $15 a month rate for flat wastewater fee for the first 10 metres of consumption.

Council also passed the municipality’s 2024 tax penalty bylaw.
