Man faces two first-degree murder charges in alleged hit and run in Alberta

GLEICHEN — An Alberta man faces murder charges in the deaths of two men who police say were struck by a vehicle while they were walking with a group of people over the weekend.

RCMP say 27-year-old Trayton Runningbird and 45 year-old Clifton Saddleback were among a group of five people walking on the Siksika Nation, east of Calgary, on Saturday night when the group was hit.

Both were residents of Siksika Nation.

A 45-year-old woman who is also a resident of the community was injured and remains in critical condition.

Mounties say the vehicle left the scene after striking the group.

Police say a 27-year-old Siksika Nation resident faces two charges of first-degree murder and one charge of attempted murder, and he remains in custody.
